Police Say Minersville Man Drove Ambulance on Bleeping Soccer Field

Damage estimated at more than $2,000

A Minersville man is facing charges after he allegedly drove an ambulance he owns across the borough’s youth soccer field.

According to an affidavit filed with District Magistrate David Plachko, on March 2 at about about 3:30 p.m., Minersville Sgt. Jeffrey Bowers says he spoke with Christopher Moore, who had a 2008 Chevrolet ambulance parked at the back of the Minersville Borough Soccer FIeld on N. Delaware Ave. Bowers says he was investigating an alleged trespassing at that location.

Bowers says he told Moore he could not drive his ambulance on the soccer field. That was backed up by Minersville Mayor Sean Palmer, who was also at the scene and told Moore the same, that he couldn’t drive his ambulance on the field.

At that point, Bowers says, Moore began to argue with him and the Mayor. The Mayor then reportedly told Moore that they weren’t there to argue with the man.

That’s when Moore allegedly said to them, “I’ll drive the ambulance through the f***ing field.”

A few days after this conversation, Bowers says he was told that Moore apparently did drive his ambulance through the “f***ing field” and worked to gather evidence to prove it. Bowers says he took measurements and photos of the track width adn tire pattern implanted on the soccer field.

He then compared that with measurements and visuals he gathered on Moore’s ambulance tires, which he found behind a building on Brier City Rd. in Minersville, and says they were an exact match to those seen on the soccer field.

Bowers says the damage to the soccer field is about $2,190. He’s charging Moore with criminal mischief, institutional vandalism, and trespass by motor vehicle.
