Every week since early 2020, Schuylkill County Commissioners meetings have been streamed through an audio feed on Zoom.
The trouble, however, is that if you ever listened to those Zoom calls, you’d swear you were developing a hearing problem. At times, the audio coming from the Commissioners Board Room was almost completely inaudible.
That is changing. Last week, County government began streaming video of Commissioners meetings live on the County’s website. A recording of that meeting is available on YouTube.
Commissioner Larry Padora called last week’s stream an “experiment” but says this week’s meeting will be available in the same format. He had previously told The Canary that it was one of his goals to start live streaming meetings.
The audio, compared to that Zoom call, is a night-and-day difference. That means you can actually hear it.
Here is the video of last week’s meeting, which The Canary couldn’t attend due to a power outage at our newsroom:
Video of meetings in the past has been available. The Canary doesn’t go live from the meetings but its recordings are posted on YouTube on this site’s official YouTube channel.
Former Commissioner candidate Jeff Dunkel continues to stream meetings live through his Facebook page, Dunkel for Commish.
Today’s meeting should be available on the County website by following this link.

So glad to see that Commissioner Padora is stepping up to the plate to make some improvements and changes at the County. Gear up! Lots more to tackle.
