1 Dead, 3 Seriously Injured in Crash on Route 209 in Schuylkill County

Crash happened a little after 4 p.m in Walker Township.

A head-on crash along Route 209 in Walker Township, Schuylkill County, Wednesday afternoon claimed the life of 1 person and seriously injured 3 others.

State Police-Frackville report the crash happened a little after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

According to information released to the public today, 3 vehicles were involved in the crash. Only the name of the deceased was released. No information on the types of vehicles involved or the names of other drivers or passengers is available.

Here’s what police say happened:

Police say Vehicle 1 was driving south on Route 209. Vehicle 2 was headed north, with Vehicle 3 behind it.

Prior to the crash, Vehicle 1 apparently swerved into the northbound lane of Route 209 then back into the southbound lane and then ultimately into the northbound lane again.

Upon re-entry into the northbound lane, the southbound Vehicle 1 crashed head-on into Vehicle 2. Vehicle 3 attempted to avoid the crash by swerving into the southbound lane but had a minor collision with the rear of Vehicle 2, police say.

The driver of Vehicle 1 sustained serious injuries in the crash and was taken to Lehigh Valley Health Network-Cedar Crest for treatment.

The driver of Vehicle 2, Jodi L. Green, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Her 2 passengers were seriously injured and taken by medical helicopter to Lehigh Valley-Cedar Crest for treatment of their injuries.
