A Schuylkill County arrested last month for lifting lollipops from a grocery store is now looking at a felony theft charge.
According to State Police in Schuylkill Haven, a call was received from BG’s Value Market, along Route 443 in Pine Grove Twp., on April 20 for a report of a retail theft. Court records show the incident happened on April 18.
Police say 31-year-old Jade Staller, of Pine Grove, entered the store and took a pack of lollipops and put them in her pocket. Staller reportedly left the store without paying for the suckers, valued at $3.99.
So, a felony charge over a pack of lollipops worth less than $5?
Turns out, this is not Staller’s first or second time facing a retail theft charge.
Court records show she’s been arrested several times in the past on the same charge in Schuylkill and Luzerne counties.
A third and subsequent offense of retail theft upgrades charges to a third-degree felony.
