A Pine Grove man faces a litany of criminal charges after leading police on a vehicle chase earlier this month.
According to State Police in Schuylkill Haven, the incident happened around 7 p.m. back on March 3.
Police say Joseph Wenrich, 22, of Pine Grove, was speeding along Long Run Rd., just west of Stone Mountain Rd., in his Ford F250. When police tried to pull over Wenrich in his vehicle, he sped off, failing to stop.
Wenrich then allegedly led police on a 20-minute pursuit that snaked through Wayne, Washington, and Pine Grove townships in western Schuylkill County. Police say the chase went off-road a few times along the way, causing several incidents of property damage.
Eventually, Wenrich stopped his truck and gave up without incident.
He’s being charged with felony fleeing and eluding as well as reckless endangerment, and numerous traffic violations.
Police add that Wenrich had a firearm on his person at the time of his arrest but he wasn’t permitted to have it. He’ll face a gun charge, too, police say.
