A snow squall is being blamed for a multi-vehicle pile-up on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County on Saturday afternoon.
According to State Police in Frackville, the crash began just after 1 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-81 in E. Union Twp. During this snow squall, for which a warning was issued by National Weather Service, there was near zero visibility conditions on the highway.
Police say they’re conducting 5 investigations into the incident.
In the first crash, police believe 3 commercial vehicles and 10 passenger vehicles were involved. Four people sustained minor to moderate injuries during the pile-up, police say. None of those injuries are considered life-threatening.
Behind that crash, 4 more similar collisions occurred. One more person reported injuries from those crashes.
Police say they’re continuing their investigations and haven’t revealed the names of anyone involved.
