Several local attorneys are presumably in the running to replace retired Judge William Baldwin on the Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas bench.
Baldwin retired at the end of last year and left an unexpired term behind. Jacqueline Russell was named President Judge but Baldwin’s absence leaves a vacancy.
We’re learning some names who may be up for consideration for the position.
According to our sources, those interested in Baldwin’s vacant seat are:
- William Burke
- Maria Casey
- Michael J. O’Connor
- James Conville
- Mike O’Pake
- Mark Barket
Gov. Tom Wolf will nominate one of these or another person to fill Baldwin’s position. The governor’s nominee will then face a confirmation vote by the Pennsylvania Senate.
We’re unsure of the timeline when a replacement could be nominated. But we do know the Schuylkill County Republican Committee will be meeting on the matter on Jan. 26.
