A Northumberland County man died Saturday following a head-on crash on the Gordon Nagle Trail outside Pottsville.
According to State Police in Schuylkill Haven, the crash happened along the Gordon Nagle, at the intersection with SPCA Rd.
They say a Kia Sorento driven by a 32-year-old man from Coal Township was headed south on the Gordon Nagle (Route 901). At that intersection, the driver failed to negotiate a right turn in the road and crossed into the northbound lane of the road.
Police say the Kia crashed head-on into a Ford F-150 driven by a man from Pitman. He had a female passenger at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Kia was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pottsville for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
While the driver of the pickup reported minor injuries, his passenger was flown by medical helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville with unknown injuries.
No identities of individuals have been released.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene and the Gordon Nagle Trail was closed for more than 2 hours while State Police investigated the crash.
