Police say a Lebanon man recently led them on what is the latest car chase through Schuylkill County.
According to State Police in Schuylkill Haven, 29-year-old Travis Gorey was parked in his Subaru Legacy at the Sunoco gas station along Suedberg Rd. in Pine Grove Township at about 2:30 a.m. on March 20.
The store was closed due to a recent robbery, police say.
When Gorey saw a State Police vehicle patrolling the area, he fled the scene. Police followed Gorey and attempted to pull him over for a reported registration violation. However, Gorey did not comply with the police attempt to pull him over and he began a chase that began near that gas station and continued for another 15 miles.
Police say the chase finally ended in Branchdale. Gorey took his vehicle onto a muddy road there and it became disabled. The Lebanon man attempted to run but didn’t get far.
Gorey’s troubles didn’t end there. Police did a check on the vehicle he drove that night and discovered it was reported stolen from an area under the jurisdiction of State Police in Hamburg. Additionally, police learned Gorey was wanted on two other felony arrest warrants.
Police took Gorey before District Judge David Plachko who committed him to Schuylkill County Prison on $100,000 bail.
