A woman died Wednesday afternoon in a motor vehicle crash on Route 61, just outside St. Clair.
Emergency officials were summoned to the scene at about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday and pronounced Jessica L. Andruchek, 35, of Minersville, dead upon their arrival, according to dispatches on Schuylkill County emergency radio.
The crash closed all of Route 61 for several hours from between Frackville and the Walmart store in Saint Clair, according to a report from The Shenandoah Sentinel.
According to information from State Police in Frackville, Andrucheck attempted to turn onto the northbound lanes of Route 61 at E. Dark Water Rd. in New Castle Township. To get to the northbound lanes, Andruchek was forced to cross the southbound side of the highway.
That’s where her vehicle was hit by a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Arizona Rentschler, of Schuylkill Haven. Rentschler was taken to St. Luke’s Geisinger hospital outside Orwigsburg for treatment of a possible injury.
