According to State Police in Schuylkill Haven, members of the Auburn Municipal Authority requested to meet with them after they discovered something was amiss.
They say two people broken into the secure area around the water tank. The tank holds about 300,000 gallons of the borough’s water.
Once inside the secured area, the two perps climbed the tower and damaged the vent at the top of the top of the tank. The Municipal Authority believes this incident happened some time between 2 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Sunday.
Auburn’s water will be tested to see if anything was contaminated and that’s why residents have been advised to temporarily not drink the water.
