APRIL 9 UPDATE: First Coronavirus Related Death Reported in Schuylkill County

Public health officials confirmed the first COVID-19 coronavirus-related death in Schuylkill County Thursday. A total of 338 Pennsylvanians have died from coronavirus-related complications since early March.

In Schuylkill County on Thursday, another 13 positive cases of coronavirus were confirmed. Cumulatively, the total number of positive cases in Schuylkill County is 149.

This is the 19th consecutive day of positive coronavirus cases locally. Here’s a day-by-day breakdown:

Statewide, cumulatively, there are 18,228 positive cases as of noon Thursday, April 9. Pennsylvania’s death toll from coronavirus-related illness is now 338.

The first positive case in Pennsylvania was reported on March 6.

Schuylkill County at 149 Positive Coronavirus Cases

To date, there are 18,228 total positive cases in Pennsylvania and another 87,374 negatives.

The Blue line tracks New Positive cases of coronavirus while the Red tracks total to date. The yellow line marks Total Negative cases reported on the day and Green denotes the total amount of tests conducted. The Orange Line represents New Negative cases since the state started reporting them.

By County Numbers

Statewide, here are the counties with the most cumulative positive cases of COVID-19 coronavirus to date (not including Schuylkill neighbors):

  • Philadelphia: 5,029 
  • Montgomery: 1,693 
  • Delaware: 1,222 
  • Northampton: 949
  • Bucks: 871 
  • Allegheny: 759 

These are the cumulative totals for counties surrounding Schuylkill County. Note, Lehigh and Luzerne counties have the 3rd and 4th highest cumulative totals to date, respectively:
