Earlier this year, the rate hit record lows but has risen back to a level we’ve seen through much of the Trump presidency.
Schuylkill County Unemployment Rate – July 2019
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate in Schuylkill County during July 2019 was at 5.4%.
That’s 1.3% higher than the rate recorded earlier this year, a rate we believe is the lowest in the publicly available data for this area. In April, the Schuylkill County unemployment rate was at 4.1%
The county’s current unemployment rate is 1.5% above the Pennsylvania unemployment rate.
Unemployment in the Trump Era
Schuylkill County’s unemployment rate during the Trump presidency was at its highest in the beginning. In February 2017, the unemployment rate hit 6.8%. It bounced between 6 and 7% in the 4 years prior to Trump’s inauguration.
The last time the unemployment rate here hit 6% or higher was in February 2018.
If history is any indication, you can expect rate to go down at the end of the calendar year.
