Republican incumbent Christy Joy seeks another 4-year term as Schuylkill County Controller in the 2019 municipal election.
If the primary represents the race ahead, Joy likely won’t have a problem regaining this position.
When you head to the polls on May 21, if you’re a Republican, you’ll be able to pick Joy. If you’re a Democrat, you’ll have to write someone in for the Controller seat. The party has no candidates running for the office in the primary election.
2019 Schuylkill County Controller Primary Election Preview
The GOP has the lockdown on county row offices. And Joy’s lack of a primary opponent in the County Controller race must indicate some sort of confidence in him among Schuylkill Republicans. Maybe it’s just because he hasn’t screwed up in the position as much as some other Republicans working at the Courthouse (or who used to work at the Courthouse).
Or perhaps it’s just a lack of interest?
If the Democrats have any idea of taking back the Courthouse in November, they have a funny way of showing it. No one wants to be Controller?
Of course, fiscal responsibility isn’t really a Democrat’s strong suit.
Here’s the breakdown of the race:
Candidate | Party | Votes | Win (*) |
---|---|---|---|
Christy Joy | REP | 11684 | *WIN* |
Write-ins | DEM | 311 |
