Three Schuylkill League Teams Advance in District XI Volleyball Playoffs

Panther Valley, Mahanoy Area, and Shenandoah Valley are moving on in the District XI volleyball playoffs after wins Tuesday night.

Blue Mountain, Tamaqua Area, and Williams Valley saw their seasons come to an end.

Shenandoah Valley swept Williams Valley 25-22, 25-20, 25-20 in an all-Schuylkill League first round match in Class 2A. It’s the Blue Devils’ first playoff appearance since 2021.

Jocelyn Chagolla led Shenandoah Valley with 10 kills, nine digs, five service points, two assists, a block, and an ace. Aubrie Monaghan added eight kills, 14 digs, seven service points, and three aces.

Brittany Tufts handed out 19 assists to go with three kills, eight digs, five service points, and two aces, and Valeria Hernandez had 16 digs.

For Williams Valley, Gabrielle Duprez had 13 kills, 12 digs, two aces, and a block. Hayley Fenalson had seven kills, eight digs, a block, and an ace, and Makaya Mcaaloose had five kills, 15 digs, and two aces.

Shenandoah Valley moves on to face top-seeded Tri-Valley in the Class 2A semifinals on Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Minersville.

In Class 3A, Mahanoy Area swept Tamaqua Area 25-17, 27-25, 28-26, taking each of the last two sets by two points.

Samantha Price led Mahanoy Area with 19 assists, 11 digs, two aces, and a kill. Mady Ryan had six kills and two aces, and Emma Manley added five kills, five digs, and an ace.

For Tamaqua, Millie Black had 15 kills, six digs, three blocks, and an ace. Madison Schock had 19 assists, 12 digs, three aces, and two kills, and Mackenzie Famularo had two kills and a block.

Mahanoy Area will play Pine Grove Area in an all-Schuylkill League semifinal on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Martz Hall.

In the other Class 3A first round match, Pen Argyl swept Executive Education Academy and moves on to face top-seeded Allentown Central Catholic on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Catasauqua High School.

Panther Valley topped Saucon Valley 3-1 at home in a Class 4A quarterfinal. The Panthers will face Northwestern Lehigh in the semifinals on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Martz Hall.

Blue Mountain’s season ended with a 3-1 loss at Notre Dame-Green Pond. The Crusaders will play top-seeded Bethlehem Catholic in the other Class 4A semifinal on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Catasauqua High School.
