The Schuylkill League volleyball postseason begins tonight with two matches between teams that had impressive regular season performances.
Tonight’s quarterfinals at Minersville begin with Marian Catholic, the Division II runner-up, facing Pine Grove Area, which finished in third place in Division I. That match gets underway at 5:30 p.m.
Right after that match is over, the Division I runner-up, Panther Valley, takes on the third-place team from Division II, Nativity BVM. That match is scheduled to get started at 6:45 p.m.
Winners of those matches earn the right to take on division champs that finished the regular season with perfect league records in the semifinals.
Pottsville Area will face the winner of the Marian-Pine Grove match. Tri-Valley, the Division II champs, will take on the winner of Panther Valley-Nativity. Those semifinal matches take place Tuesday night at Martz Hall.
The championship match is scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. at Martz Hall in Pottsville.
