Police say a Schuylkill County man ran at another man with a knife during a confrontation outside a Port Carbon home in June.
Brandon Filiziani, 34, of Shenandoah, was charged earlier this month with simple assault and harassment. He denied pulling a knife.
State Police say they were dispatched to a home on Pine St. in Port Carbon around 4:30 p.m. June 23 for a report of an attempted assault, police say.
The man who lives there told troopers that he, his ex-girlfriend and Filiziani, her ex-boyfriend, had been arguing back and forth by text. He said Filiziani told him he was going to send him explicit videos of the woman and Filiziani having sex, which the man said was an attempt to instigate him, according to police.
The man told troopers that when Filiziani and the woman arrived at the home to pick up a child, he walked over to the vehicle Filiziani was in. As he approached, saying, “What’s up? What’s up?” he saw Filiziani unbuckle himself from the driver’s seat and open the car door, police say.
The man said he walked around the front of the vehicle to confront Filiziani, and that is when he saw Filiziani close the car door with a knife in his hand. Filiziani then ran at him with the knife, and he turned and ran away, the man told police.
When a trooper asked whether Filiziani made any threats with the knife or swung it at him, the man said he did not see or hear Filiziani make any threats or swing the knife, according to police.
Troopers later spoke with Filiziani in Shenandoah. He told police the man came out of the Pine St. home appearing like he wanted to fight him, and that he heard the man yelling at him to get out of the car.
Filiziani said he got out of the car to confront the man, but the man began to run away, yelling that he had a gun, and ran toward the neighbors, police say.
Filiziani denied pulling a knife during the incident, according to police. He told troopers he keeps a buck knife in his vehicle and leaves it there, and said he had not taken it out of the vehicle at all during the incident.
Filiziani is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 15 before Magisterial District Judge Edward Lewis.
