A former student at Gillingham Charter School in Pottsville is facing criminal charges after they allegedly threatened to carry out a mass shooting there in an online forum.
Police in Pottsville say they were called to the school on Howard Ave. Thursday morning. At the scene, officers spoke with Gillingham administrator Kathleen Staskowski who reported that a 14-year-old former student made the threat on Discord.
Other Gillingham students who are in the same Discord group chat reported the threat the former student allegedly made, Staskowski said.
Police say through their investigation, the former student said in the chat, “This is why I’m gonna genuinely mass shoot Gillingham.”
The former student is being charged with felony terroristic threats as well as misdemeanor counts of making terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.
