Warrant Issued for Schuylkill County Man Accused of Whipping Woman with Tree Branch

Rogers wanted by police

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Schuylkill County man accused of repeatedly striking his former fiancée, whipping her with a tree branch, and threatening to kill her.

Regenald Rogers, 34, of Mahanoy City, is charged with two misdemeanor counts of simple assault, one misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person, and a summary count of harassment.

Police say the investigation began shortly after 1 a.m. on July 7 when they responded to Lehigh Valley Hospital-East in Pottsville for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, police observed a female victim with bruising on her left cheek, a bleeding laceration on her lip, and a large amount of dried blood on her person and clothing.

The victim told police that she and Rogers were recently separated after previously being engaged. She said she was staying at a friend’s house in Saint Clair when Rogers arrived to confront her. The victim said she called a friend to pick her up because she felt unsafe, and she began walking toward Burma Rd. to meet her friend because Rogers was screaming.

The victim said that Rogers chased her in the street and eventually struck her in the face repeatedly with a closed fist. The victim said that during the attack, Rogers told her she “made him this way” and that he was going to kill her. The victim further said that Rogers took her phone to prevent her from calling for help and “whipped” her three to four times with a small tree branch, causing redness and scratches on her chest.

The victim’s friend and the friend’s brother then arrived in a vehicle to pick her up. She told police that as she tried to get into the car, Rogers pulled on one of her arms to stop her while her friend pulled her other arm from inside the vehicle to get her inside. Rogers eventually let go, allowing them to leave the area and get to the hospital.

The witnesses told police that when they arrived on the scene, Rogers was screaming at the victim and they observed a significant amount of blood on her. Police say they inspected the witnesses’ vehicle and observed blood on the passenger-side windows and body panels from the victim’s attempt to enter the car.
