Schuylkill County Man Accused of Throwing Rocks at Woman’s Pickup

Lawson was mad his girlfriend was spending time with victim, police say

A Schuylkill County man faces a misdemeanor charge after police say he swerved his vehicle into an oncoming lane, blocked a truck’s path, and threw rocks at the vehicle during an incident in West Mahanoy Township.

Randy Lawson, 46, of Lost Creek, is charged with propulsion of missiles onto roadways, criminal mischief, careless driving, and driving on roadways laned for traffic.

According to police, the incident occurred on the afternoon of June 30 near the intersection of Convent Rd. and Mount Olive Blvd. The victim left the area for her safety and reported the encounter to police at the State Police-Frackville barracks.

The victim told police she was driving a blue Dodge Ram with a passenger when she saw a silver Ford Explorer swerve into her lane from the opposite direction. The victim said the vehicle was operated by Lawson, who was making hand gestures toward her. The victim also said she had previous interactions with Lawson involving recent damage to her property.

According to statements given to police, the victim pulled over on Convent Rd. and Lawson pulled his vehicle in front of hers to block her path. When the victim backed up and attempted to drive away, Lawson exited his vehicle and threw rocks at the truck. Police say they inspected the truck and observed two dents in the tailgate.

The passenger, who told police Lawson is her boyfriend, said she was helping the victim move her belongings at the time. The witness said that Lawson is controlling and was angry that she was spending time with the victim. The witness said Lawson followed them, blocked their truck, and threw rocks at the vehicle.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 30.
