A Schuylkill County man is wanted on an aggravated assault charge after he allegedly tried attacking a neighbor with an axe during a dispute over loud music.
State Police say they were called to a home on E. Main St. in Ringtown shortly after 11 a.m. on Wednesday for a reported assault. Upon their arrival, police say they spoke with a woman who said their neighbor, Charles Plenskofski, 55, had been knocking on her door asking her to turn down the music playing in her home.
A man living at the same address where the music was playing exited the home and told Plenskofski that he will not turn down the music. That led to a verbal altercation between he and Plenskofski.
The man who said the music wasn’t getting turned down reportedly followed Plenskofski back to his front door. At that point, Plenskofski grabbed a black-handled axe fro inside the door frame and swung it at the man. The man said he was nearly hit by the axe in the neck but the woman stopped it with her hand, police say.
The woman suffered a laceration to her right hand while trying to block the axe attack, police say.
Police have charged Plenskofski with two first-degree felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment and simple assault as well as summary counts of harassment.
