A Schuylkill County was jailed Thursday after police say he threatened to stab a woman while armed with a knife during a domestic dispute that spilled out onto the street.
Travis Donmoyer, 28, of Pottsville, was arraigned Thursday on charges of first-degree misdemeanor terroristic threats, second-degree misdemeanor simple assault, and summary harassment, according to an affidavit of probable cause. He’s in Schuylkill County Prison on 10% of $15,000 bail.
Police in Pottsville were dispatched just before 10 a.m. to the area of 7th and Arch streets. A 9-1-1 caller reported a shirtless man with a knife in his waistband arguing with a woman.
Upon arrival, officers located Donmoyer and a 30-year-old female victim. Police say they observed a large knife in plain view in Donmoyer’s waistband. He cooperated with instructions to place the weapon on the ground, and the two were separated.
Through investigation, it was learned the victim had been trying to end their relationship, while Donmoyer was insisting they stay together. When Donmoyer saw the victim walking in the 100 block of N. 7th St., police allege he approached her aggressively, saying, “You’re gonna be with me…you’re not leaving” and “I’m gonna stab you.”
The victim saw the knife when he made the threat and feared for her safety as she attempted to get away, police say. A witness in the area then contacted 9-1-1. Police say they’ve handled multiple incidents involving the two arguing and engaging in altercations over the previous two days.
While being taken into custody, Donmoyer told police, “I did I didn’t mean to” in response to the threat to stab the victim. Police say after Donmoyer was advised of his Miranda warnings, he repeatedly attempted to address the victim and apologized at one point.
Officers secured the weapon as evidence, describing it as a multi-colored knife with an approximate five-inch blade.
