A Schuylkill County man confessed to illegally dumping multiple loads of garbage on Reading Anthracite Company property in East Norwegian Township after being paid to haul it away, police say.
Blake Michael Moyer-Herndon, 25, of Saint Clair, is accused of taking $500 in cash to clear out a Frackville garage, then dumping the debris in the woods instead of at a proper facility. According to police, Moyer-Herndon operates a business called “Herndon Dumping and Removal”.
A Frackville woman reported to police that she paid Moyer-Herndon on April 26 to clean trash from a property on S. Birch St. The victim told police that Moyer-Herndon claimed he had private locations to dispose of the garbage.
The investigation began two days later when the victim saw a Facebook post showing illegal dumping on Eagle Hill Rd. in East Norwegian Township and recognized her items. During a police interview, the woman identified a customized coffee cup, a receipt bearing a relative’s name, and a placard from the dumped trash.
Police responded to the site and confirmed the debris was dumped on land owned by Reading Anthracite. Police noted that the trash had been burned, but remnants remained, and company representatives advised they wanted to pursue charges.
Police obtained surveillance video from a witness near the Frackville garage showing a gray Dodge Ram, consistent with Moyer-Herndon’s vehicle, picking up two loads of trash on the morning of April 26. Additional footage from a witness on Eagle Hill Rd. showed the same truck hauling two loads toward the illegal dumping site later that day, according to police.
Police spotted Moyer-Herndon’s truck at a Saint Clair gas station on May 2 and asked him to come in for an interview. On May 7, Moyer-Herndon voluntarily arrived at the police station and provided a written statement. According to police, Moyer-Herndon admitted to illegally dumping the items in the woods on Reading Anthracite property and apologized for any wrongdoing.
Moyer-Herndon is facing a misdemeanor count of scattering rubbish and a summary count of criminal trespass. He’s got a preliminary hearing on these charges on July 7 in Port Carbon.
