Schuylkill County Man Facing Assault Charge After Allegedly Saying Another Woman’s Name in Bed

Ash IV released on $10K unsecured bail

A Schuylkill County man is facing domestic assault charges after he allegedly said another woman’s name in bed earlier this week.

State Police say they were called to a home in Port Carbon shortly before noon on May 12 for a report of an active domestic disturbance. At the scene, police say they met with the victim of the incident who told them that Howard Ash IV, 47, was saying another woman’s name as they lay in bed together.

The victim admitted to police that she pushed Ash but Ash responded by dumping a beverage on her and then slapped her on the side of the head, causing her to suffer a ringing ear.

Ash then allegedly made a half-fist and struck the victim in the head again, hitting her in the eye. The victim was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-East in Pottsville for treatment.

Police charged Ash with a misdemeanor count of simple assault and a summary count of harassment. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer and released on $10,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing before Senior Judge Edward Lewis in Port Carbon is scheduled for June 16.
