A Schuylkill County woman is facing an assault charge after police say she kicked a nurse in a hospital emergency room.
According to an affidavit, police in Pottsville responded to the ER at Lehigh Valley Hospital-East shortly after midnight on June 24 for a report of an assault. At the scene, a nurse said that while she was providing care to Nichole Simpson, 55, of Mahanoy City, she was scratched on the arm.
Simpson then allegedly kicked the nurse three times in her midsection.
The nurse’s injuries were reportedly minor.
However, this was the third time that Simpson had been brought to the hospital and she attacked staff there.
On July 1, police charged Simpson with simple assault and harassment. She’s been ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing on these charges on Aug. 4.
