Schuylkill County Woman Accused of Throwing Rocks at Man During Attempted Burglary Incident

Suspect sent to Schuylkill County Prison

A Schuylkill County woman is facing a felony attempted burglary charge following an incident in which she allegedly threw rocks at a man.

According to court documents, Troopers from State Police-Frackville were dispatched to a home in the 800 block of Ann St., Norwegian Township, at about 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday for reports of a disturbance.

Police say they spoke with the victim of this incident who said Erika Rhein, 35, who lives in the area of the incident, walked to his home. Rhein allegedly became agitated and started throwing rocks at the victim.

The victim told police that Rhein then started trying to grab items off his front porch. While doing that, Rhein allegedly ripped down multiple pieces of plastic railing. She then broke into the fence and tried breaking into the side window of the home, ripping a fan from that window, the victim reportedly told police.

Rhein then tried pushing her way into the residence, through the victim, police report.

A witness to this incident was also interviewed by police at the scene. The witness reportedly told police they saw Rhein screaming outside the victim’s residence and saw her throwing rocks at him. Rhein was also observed by the victim trying to enter the victim’s home through the front door as well as trying to climb over a railing, ripping it down in the process.

Rhein was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Edward Tarantelli just after midnight on Thursday and charged with attempted burglary, a first-degree felony as well as summary charges of harassment and criminal mischief.

Tarantelli set bail at $5,000, which hasn’t been posted, and Rhein has been in Schuylkill County Prison since that night, according to court records.

A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for July 29.
