A Pottsville man was arrested earlier this week after an alleged domestic violence incident.
According to information released by Pottsville Bureau of Police, shortly before 3 p.m. on June 15, officers were dispatched to a home in the 500 block of E. Norwegian St. for a report of an assault.
At the scene, police were told by the victim that she was pushed by her boyfriend, 46-year-old Howard Ash, and her head hit the ground. Police say they noticed swelling to the left side of the victim’s head.
The victim told police that a verbal disagreement initially became physical when Ash grabbed her hand as she attempted to leave the residence. This caused a visible injury to her hand, police say.
That’s when Ash then pushed her to the ground and she hit her head.
Ash was taken into custody and charged with simple assault and harassment. He was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Edward Tarantelli and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
A preliminary hearing before Judge James Reiley is currently scheduled for Monday morning.
