A Schuylkill County man is accused of ripping out a woman’s hair and then threatening to shoot her in the face during a domestic violence incident earlier this month.
According to court documents, police in Saint Clair were called to a home on S. Morris St. in the borough shortly after 1 p.m. on June 1. A neighbor called police after a child knocked on their door to ask them to call the cops.
When police arrived, police say they observed a red hand print on the alleged victim’s thigh and that it was beginning to welt.
The victim told police that she and Joshua Mooney, 37, got into an argument and that Mooney started calling her derogatory names, police say. Eventually, Mooney began throwing and breaking items in their home, including a television and a set of clothes drawers.
The confrontation got violent when Mooney then reportedly grabbed the victim by her hair and restrained her near her jaw. Mooney then reportedly pushed the victim’s head down and ripped out her hair.
This altercation didn’t end there and continued in the basement. While standing on the stairway to the basement, the victim told police that Mooney threatened to “shoot her in the face” if she called police, an affidavit reads.
The victim reportedly showed police the hair Mooney had ripped from her head.
Police have charged Mooney with making terroristic threats and simple assault, both misdemeanors, as well as a summary offense for harassment.
