New Theft Charges Filed Against Man Convicted in Minersville General Store Robbery

Adan Twigg facing even more charges

A Schuylkill County man already in prison for committing an armed robbery of the Minersville General Store last August and is accused of two other thefts last year has been charged with yet another theft.

Adan Twigg, 20, of Pottsville, is already serving 4-10 years for that armed robbery in Minersville. Police have also recently charged him with the theft of a vehicle used to deliver US Mail and taking it for a joyride to New York. He has also been charged with burglarizing and robbing cash from the concession stand at Rotary Little League field in Pottsville.

Now, Twigg is facing another set of charges for allegedly stealing a Toyota Prius from a business in Pottsville.

According to court documents, police in Pottsville say they were called to a business on E. Railroad St. on June 16 last year for a reported vehicles theft. The owner of the business told police that the Prius was there to get repaired.

Police say they obtained video surveillance from the City Garage nearby that showed the vehicle parked on E. Railroad St. shortly after midnight on June 19. About 15 minutes later, the vehicle was gone. That video reportedly shows three men wearing hoodies. One of the men had an Under Armour backpack.

Another video captures four men prowling near homes and businesses prior to the reported vehicles theft.

State Police recovered the Prius in Seltzer City on June 17. A swab of the steering wheel was sent to the PA State Police Crime Lab in Harrisburg for DNA testing.

On May 23, police in Pottsville say they received results from that DNA analysis. It showed that Twigg could not be eliminated as a suspect in the reported vehicle theft.

New felony charges of theft of a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property have been filed against Twigg.
