A Pottsville man was jailed over the weekend following an alleged domestic violence incident.
According to information released by police in Pottsville, officers were called to the 1700 block of W. Norwegian St. on Saturday evening for a domestic dispute.
The alleged victim of this incident reported that her husband – identified as David Deiter, 58 – grabbed her by the face and squeezed. This caused swelling and redness to the victim’s face, police say.
Deiter had been drinking and a verbal argument turned physical when he grabbed the victim’s face and reportedly said, “I am going to hurt you.”
The victim refused medical treatment at the scene, police say.
Deiter was arraigned by District Magistrate Judge David Plachko who set bail at $25,000 and remanded him to Schuylkill County Prison. A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for June 9.
