Homeless Schuylkill County Man Arrested with 837 Pennies, Sneakers, Jewelry – Suspected of Stealing from Hospital Parking Garage

Robert Enloe jailed on $1,500 bail

A homeless Pottsville man has been charged with rummaging through and stealing numerous items from vehicles in a city hospital parking facility earlier this month.

According to court documents, police in Pottsville were called to Lehigh Valley Hospital on E. Norwegian St. on May 7 regarding an incident that occurred the day prior.

Security personnel at the hospital said they have surveillance video from inside the hospital’s parking garage showing a man entering numerous vehicles between 2:58-3:10 a.m. on May 6.

Police say they viewed the video and identified the suspect as Robert Enloe, 36, from their previous encounters and active investigations.

During the overnight hours of May 6, police say the video surveillance footage shows Enloe entering several vehicles in the lot. In one instance, he’s seen carrying a pair of sneakers believed to be taken from a doctor’s vehicle, police say.

Enloe is also seen on video going through a wallet, removing some of its contents and then ditching the wallet in a trash can. In the video, Enloe is also seen wearing large rings on his ring and pinky fingers.

Police caught up with Enloe on May 8 and took him into custody. They say he was wearing the same clothes he wore while going through vehicles inside the parking facility a few days prior. He was also wearing a pair of New Balance sneakers that are suspected of being stolen that night, police note.

During a search of his person after being taken into custody, Enloe reportedly had $15.27 in loose change on him, including 837 pennies, women’s jewelry, and a small envelope with a message written on the outside telling the recipient to “enjoy the bracelets.” There were two bead bracelets inside, police say.

Enloe also had a multi-color cross on a silver chain and other random items on him that police believe he likely stole from vehicles.

He was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge James Reiley last Thursday afternoon and sent to Schuylkill County Prison on 10% of $15,000 bail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for late-June.

Enloe has been charged with attempted theft and theft from a motor vehicle, both third-degree misdemeanors.
