A female corrections officer from Pottsville is accused of having sexual relations with a male inmate at the state prison in Frackville.
According to court documents, Jocelyn Ebert, 23, is charged with institutional sexual assault, a third-degree felony, and obstruction, a misdemeanor, following a Dept. of Corrections investigation.
Investigators say a male inmate made allegations back in late-January that he had prolonged sexual relations with Ebert, dating back three or four months. The sexual encounters either happened in a cell block closet or through the feeding slot on his cell door.
The inmate reportedly told investigators that when Ebert had other inmates lock into their cells, he was permitted to go to the closet on the cell block. Ebert would then follow him there and they’d engage in sexual activity.
He also said that Ebert would perform sex acts through the feeding slot on his cell door.
When Ebert was confronted by investigators, she reportedly said she thought they were concerned about her “being too close” with one inmate.
Ebert allegedly admitted to letting the inmate use her vape pen 4-5 times and eventually admitted to having sexual contact with the accusing inmate. She reportedly said this happened more than 10 times but less than 20.
Investigators say they have video evidence of Ebert and the inmate being in the cell block closet together and of her “licking her hand” after leaving his cell.
Ebert was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Edward Tarantelli on Monday and released on $25,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for May 21.
