A Schuylkill County woman was jailed earlier this week after police say she kept banging on a wall shared with her neighbors. Police say this wasn’t the first time this happened … this month.
According to an affidavit, police in Saint Clair say they were dispatched to a home on S. Mill St. in the borough at about 2:10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18. The reporting parties say that their neighbor, Judith Hulet, 63, was banging on a shared wall between their homes.
The banging, they said, was preventing them and their children from getting sleep. Police say they made contact with Hulet “through a solid door” and told her to stop disturbing her neighbors.
A little more than 20 minutes later, shortly after 2:30 a.m., police again got a call from the same parties saying that as soon as they left, Hulet resumed banging on the wall.
This wasn’t the first time this allegedly happened. In fact, police say they were called to the same location on March 13 because Hulet was banging on the wall and screaming vulgarities. The neighbors told police that since they moved to this home, their children have missed several days of school due to being up all hours of the night on account of Hulet’s actions.
Police say they reviewed their records and realized that since March 1, they were called to the same location give times since March 1. Each time, it was noted that Hulet was reportedly uncooperative with police.
And after further review, police say they have responded to similar complaints at this same location and involving the same person a total of 42 times since Jan. 1, 2024.
Hulet was arrested and arraigned before District Magistrate Judge David Plachko on Tuesday afternoon. Police have charged her with one count of disorderly conduct and a single count of harassment related to the most recent incident. Both are misdemeanor offenses.
Plachko set bail at $25,000, which wasn’t posted right away, and Hulet was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison. Hulet posted bail on Wednesday.
