A Pottsville man was arrested last week during a verbal altercation with police.
According to an affidavit filed by police in Pottsville, the incident happened on Feb. 14 on E. Race St. Police responded to that address to serve a trespass notice.
At the scene, police made contact with Jessica Matharu and referenced the trespass notices for her and her husband, Baljinder. Jessica complied and said they’ll leave, police say. However, Baljinder apparently had other ideas.
Police say they heard Baljinder bang on his window. While trying to explain why they were there, police say Baljinder replied with a “f— you” and whipped both middle fingers. Baljinder also reportedly said he would “beat my brakes” to an officer and also reportedly said, “get off the porch.”
Repeating, police said they’d serve the trespass notice to his wife and Baljinder reportedly continued to yell obscenities and flip both birds. Baljinder then reportedly lowered his pants, exposing himself to police and said, “s— my d—.”
Police said there was no need for that and that’s when Baljinder allegedly told an officer he was going to kill him. Baljinder was then given one more warning to come out of the residence. He didn’t and backup was called to remove him.
En route to City Hall in the back of a patrol vehicle, Baljinder reportedly told police he’d been drinking. Police have charged him with misdemeanor offenses of making terroristic threats and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Anthony Kilker on last Friday night and released on $10,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for Feb. 24 before Judge James Reiley.
