An Auburn woman is facing a misdemeanor retail theft charge because police say she was caught under-ringing and stealing more than $400 in items from Sheetz earlier this year.
According to an affidavit filed by State Police-Schuylkill Haven, there are multiple instances in which Alyia Adams, 33, allegedly stole from the Sheetz in North Manheim Township.
Shortly after 8 a.m. on Jan. 31, Troopers were called to the store and spoke with the manager there. The manager said Adams’ thefts occurred between Dec. 28 and Jan. 2.
Using footage from store surveillance cameras, the manager told police she had evidence that Adams was under-ringing items and putting merchandise in bags without paying.
On Jan. 31, Sheetz management provided a receipt for all the merchandise Adams allegedly stole. The grand total of that merchandise is $435.99.
Adams was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge AJ Serina on Jan. 31. Serina set bail at 10% of $3,000 and Adams was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison. Bail was posted for Adams on Feb. 3.
