A Schuylkill County man is back in prison after recently refusing to leave … prison.
This case may say more about the homeless situation in the city of Pottsville than it does about anything else.
According to an affidavit filed by police in Pottsville, an officer was called to Schuylkill County Prison on Jan. 10 , just before 6 p.m., for a report of a man who refused to leave the property.
Police say Blu Shadow Winters, 29 and listed as a homeless man from Pottsville, was released from Schuylkill County Prison earlier that day. He had reportedly been asked to leave the property multiple times prior to police arriving, refusing each time.
When police first encountered Winters on a bench at Schuylkill County Prison, he indicated that he had nowhere to go. Winters reportedly said he wanted to go back to Schuylkill County Prison. He continually refused to leave the property, police say, so they placed him in custody.
Later on the 10th, Winters was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge James Reiley. Winters was sent back to Schuylkill County Prison on $1 bail.
