A Schuylkill County woman who said she needed to “pee and poop” was jailed in Schuylkill County Prison last week after being charged with stealing a vehicle in Mahanoy Township.
According to court docs filed by State Police-Frackville, this incident happened the morning of Jan. 6 along Buck Mountain Rd.
A woman said she went back into her home that morning to get things she needed for work. She had just driven it out of her garage and kept it idling while she went back in her home.
The victim came outside and noticed that her vehicle was gone. She was walking toward a relative’s home next door and on her way, she saw her vehicle driving toward her with the driver of it honking the horn. She went inside the relative’s home and said her vehicle was gone.
At this time, the relative came outside and saw that the vehicle had stopped in the middle of the road. He approached the vehicle and the driver inside – identified as Mercerdes Alexander – rolled down the window and asked if he needed a ride. The relative told Alexander that she had stolen the vehicle she was driving.
Alexander disagreed and said she would show him her license. She got out of the vehicle and reportedly said she had to “pee and poop.” Alexander then reportedly asked the relative if he wanted to smoke a joint.
The victim of this alleged vehicle theft told police that her relative had to hold Alexander up to prevent her from falling after she’d gotten out of the vehicle. He held up Alexander until police were called and arrived on the scene.
Police say that while Alexander was in their patrol vehicle, she continually shifted her body and ignored commands to sit back in her seat. They say Alexander couldn’t spell her name and didn’t know her date of birth. She also reportedly whispered “He’s watching porn …” several times and said she saw her daughter in the police vehicle.
Alexander was arraigned later that day before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker on charges of felony theft and misdemeanor DUI. She was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison on 10% of $25,000 bail. Bail has not been posted. A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for Jan. 30.
No address for Alexander was noted in the court documents filed by State Police. However, a previous arrest in 2020 shows Alexander living in Mahanoy Plane.
