Just in time for the holidays …

Your electric and natural gas rates are going up just in time for Christmas.

Utility companies PPL Electric and UGI Utilities recently announced that their rates for residential and business customers are going up starting on Sunday.

PPL Electric Bill Going Up

New PPL Electric rates go into effect on Dec. 1 for customers who rely on PPL Electric as their energy supplier.

On Sunday, the new rate for residential PPL Electric customers goes up to 10.771¢/kWh. That’s up from the current price of 10.040¢/kWh. Small business customers will have a new rate of 10.446¢/kWh, up from 9.237¢/kWh.

These rates will remain in effect until May 31, 2025.

UGI Natural Gas Rates Increasing 8.7%

UGI natural gas customers will also see an increase in their bills, too.

On Sunday, the rates for natural gas customers will increase 8.7%, according to the utility company. UGI says the average monthly bill will increase from $95.40 to $103.69.

New rates starting Dec. 1 will be $0.58219/ccf for residential customers and $5.7189/mcf for commercial customers.
