Sentencing for Ladell Hannon, the former Hazleton cop convicted back in September of attempted homicide and other crimes, was delayed on Friday.
Hannon was convicted by a jury in Schuylkill County of attempting to blow up the boyfriend of his estranged wife outside his apartment in Kelayres, Kline Township, during the early-morning hours of Dec. 21, 2021.
The former Hazleton cop stalked the two and then purchased items to create an improvised explosive device, which he detonated as the victim was outside his apartment.
A week-long trial resulted in a conviction back on Sept. 13.
On Friday, Schuylkill County President Judge Jacqueline Russell said the pre-sentence investigation was just amended with modifications on the guidelines for sentencing.
With regard to the guidelines for the attempted homicide charge, there were “significant changes,” according to Russell.
Russell said the sentencing had to be delayed because Mark Hinrichs, Hannon’s attorney, didn’t get the amended guidelines until he arrived at Schuylkill County Courthouse on Friday.
A new date for sentencing in this case was not set and may conflict with the upcoming trial period.
