The theft, forgery and fraud charges filed against a former Tremont Township treasurer were held over for Schuylkill County court on Thursday morning.
Rhiannon Adams appeared before District Magistrate David Rossi on Thursday for her Preliminary Hearing.
Following a brief proceeding, Rossi held all charges against Adams over for Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas and a potential future trial.
Rossi maintained the terms of Adams’ bail, $50,000 unsecured, which were set by District Magistrate Edward Tarantelli on July 3, when she was arraigned. The day prior, State Police-Schuylkill Haven obtained an arrest warrant for Adams. (READ: Warrant Issued for Former Township Treasurer Charged with Theft, Forgery, Fraud)
The former Tremont Township treasurer is accused of stealing more than $22,000 from the municipality between April 2023 and March 2024.
Adams alleged forged the signatures of township supervisors onto checks made out to herself. Those checks, 12 in total, were made out for a total of $20,969.70, according to police.
She also reportedly used the Tremont Township Bank of America credit card to make $1,603.13 in purchases for herself, including shipping at Amazon, Walmart, and Burger King.
Adams faces felony charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, theft by failing to make required disposition of funds, and forgery.
