National Weather Service is placing Schuylkill County under a Winter Storm Watch from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon.
Forecasters say heavy snow is possible from this winter storm event. Anywhere between 5-8 inches of snow is possible. However, the current NWS forecast for Pottsville is predicting between 2-4 inches of snow from the storm.
Precipitation from this storm is expected to start on Monday evening as rain before transitioning to snow.
Snow will become steadier and heavier through Monday night and into Tuesday morning. Overnight Monday into Tuesday, snowfall rates could top 1 inch per hour.
Travel conditions are expected to be very difficult during the storm and likely will affect the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.
