Firefighters responded to the scene of a house fire at 227 W. Union St. in Pottsville a little after 7:30 p.m. When we arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the home.
Emergency dispatches indicated the fire likely started in the back of the home.

Smoke spread to the adjoining homes in this tightly packed block in Pottsville.
Firefighters, in addition to 227, were also entering and exiting 223, 225, and 229 W. Union St.
In addition to battling flames at the scene tonight in Pottsville, they also had to deal with biting cold air.
