Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a driver who drove into a road work warning sign on Interstate 81 earlier this week and kept driving.
According to State Police-Frackville, the incident happened on the southbound side of I-81 in Delano Township sometime between 11:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. on Nov. 14.
Police say a portion of the left lane of of I-81 South was closed for road maintenance at the time. An arrow board from PennDOT was placed on the east shoulder of the highway, ahead of the road work location, warning drivers that the left lane was closed up ahead.
A driver crashed into the sign and slightly damaged it. However, after smacking the sign, whoever did it just drove off without reporting they’d hit the sign.
Based on where the sign was hit, police suspect it was the operator a truck tractor who nailed it.
Police are asking if anyone saw this happen, they’re to call the State Police-Frackville barracks at 570-874-5300.
