A teenage girl from Pottsville was seriously injured as a pedestrian in an incident on Route 61 earlier this month.
State Police in Schuylkill Haven released information about this July 17 incident on Thursday (July 27).
According to the information released, a 17-year-old girl from Pottsville was struck by a vehicle driven by Ava Lins, 19, of Pottsville, at about 3:15 p.m. on the 17th. The incident happened along Route 61 near the jughandle closest to the Sands Ford dealership, North Manheim Twp.
At the time of the crash, police say Lins was traveling north on Route 61. She negotiated the curve before the area of the crash and came upon the traffic signal there. Police say Lins had the right of way at the traffic signal. As she approached the signal, the 17-year-old girl, who police have not identified, ran into the crosswalk from the right northbound lane of Route 61. That’s when she was struck by Lins’ vehicle, in the crosswalk of the left northboud lane of the highway.
A crew from Schuykill EMS took the pedestrian girl to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for treatment of her injuries.
No update on her condition has been reported.
Lins was uninjured in the incident but her vehicle was towed from the scene.
