National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Schuylkill County.
The Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22.
Forecasters believe a mixed precipitation will fall on the area during that time. While snow accumulations may not be heavy – up to 1 inch expected – roads could be slippery.
An ice accumulation up to one-tenth of an inch is possible during this time.
After a brief bout with some rain and strong wind this afternoon, temperatures will drop through the night across Schuylkill County. A low temperature of 29 degrees is expected in Pottsville on Tuesday night.
Snow is possible before noon on Wednesday before changing to sleet and rain for a few hours and then plain rain after 2 p.m. A high of 39 degrees is expected on Wednesday.
We’ll have a brief respite from this wintry weather on Thursday when the temperature could near 70 degrees but will drop quickly. More seasonal weather is expected for the next 5 days after that.
