Pottsville Man Arrested with Illegal Gun Following Vehicle Chase

Jaden Baines’ getaway ends in a crash.

A Pottsville man is facing multiple felony charges after a recent vehicle chase that ended with a crash in St. Clair.

According to information from State Police in Schuylkill Haven, the incident happened back on March 29, just before midnight.

Police say they tried to initiate a traffic stop on Jaden Baines, 20, of Pottsville.

Baines ignored the command to stop and police followed in pursuit. Police say Baines was driving erratically at a high rate of speed, going north on Route 61.

Baines eventually lost control of his vehicle and crashed near Ann and Oak streets in St. Clair. He tried to get away on foot, police say, but didn’t get far.

At the time police took him into custody, they say Baines had gun on him with its serial number destroyed.

Baines was arraigned before District Judge Edward Tarantelli before dawn on March 30. And he’s currently awaiting a Preliminary Hearing before District Judge David Plachko on April 12.

Currently, Baines is in Schuylkill County Prison on $75,000 bail. He’s facing felony gun possession charges and felonies for fleeing police.
