National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Schuylkill County on Friday.
The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. until 1 p.m..
This pushes back the previous Winter Weather Advisory time window when it was originally issued Wednesday night.
NWS-State College expects freezing rain to develop near dawn on Friday and that could lead to up to one-tenth of an inch of ice accretion in some areas of Schuylkill County, including Pottsville.
Temperatures topped out at 40 degrees overnight Friday but slowly dropped toward freezing by daybreak.
Freezing rain and mixed wintry precipitation will fall throughout the morning before eventually tapering off Friday afternoon.
Travel conditions may be hazardous in some areas of the coal region, particularly north of the city.
