National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Schuylkill County and the surrounding area for Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning.
So, if you’ve got unsecured Christmas decorations outside or any other objects prone to getting carried away by a strong gust of wind, now would be the time to tie them down.
Wind Advisory for Schuylkill County
The Wind Advisory goes into effect starting at 4 pm. It expires at 1 a.m. Sunday.
Wind from the west is expected to be sustained at 15-25 mph. Gusts could be as strong as 55 mph during the advisory period.
In addition to your unsecured outdoor objects blowing away, downed trees and power outages are possible.
Schuylkill County is just one of several affected by today’s Wind Advisory. Much of central Pennsylvania is affected by the alert.
A Possible Thunderstorm
In addition to the strong winds this evening and tonight, there’s a chance of a thunderstorm in Schuylkill County before 9 p.m. Saturday as a cold front makes its way here.
We’re expecting a high temperature in the mid-60s Saturday afternoon with moderate wind. Rain showers could produce a thunderstorm as the weather shifts. No more than a quarter-inch of rain is expected Saturday.
Gusty winds are possible into Sunday but balmy weather is expected to hang on through the next week. High temps through the week should hit between the upper 40s to upper 50s.
