A Schuylkill County man is accused of helping a truck driver Thursday morning outside Pine Grove and then stealing his iPhone.
According to information released by State Police in Schuylkill Haven today, the incident happened at about 4:45 a.m. in the area of the Pine Grove truck stop off Interstate 81.
They say 24-year-old Gavin Pillsbury helped a truck driver back his trailer into the truck stop. Police identify the driver as 43-year-old Ahmed Abdelghaffar, of Tampa, Florida.
After Pillsbury guided Abdelghaffar into the space at the truck stop, police say he followed up that good deed by rushing to the truck’s cab and swiping the driver’s iPhone. Pillsbury got away on foot, police say, but he’ll be charged with theft from a motor vehicle.
All this happened after Pillsbury was allegedly involved in another incident nearby.
At about 3:11 a.m. Thursday, about 90 minutes prior to the incident at the truck stop, at a location along Oak Grove Rd. in Pine Grove Township, police say Pillsbury was spotted on surveillance video pulling copper flashing from a farm sign.
Police say he’ll be charged with criminal mischief, theft of secondary metal, and trespassing, for his role in this incident.
