A patient at a treatment center in Mahanoy Township is facing an arson charge following an incident there on Oct. 22.
According to State Police in Frackville, they responded to the Silver Pines Treatment Center at about 6 p.m. that evening for a report of a suicidal person.
When they arrived, police say Karl Boehley, 23, of Arlington, VA, was holding a large kitchen knife, threatening to kill himself.
Boehley then dropped the knife and retreated to his dorm room at the rehab facility. He then made his way to the bathroom inside his dorm and lit a garbage can in there on fire.
The fire caused damage to several items in the bathroom, police say, including the door to the bathroom. It was brought under control and police were able to take Boehley into custody.
Police have charged Boehley with felony counts of arson and causing a catastrophe. As of Oct. 30, Boehley is still waiting arraignment, according to court records.
